CUC Cape York Officially Opens!

CUC Cape York Officially Open!

It was a momentous occasion for Cape York on 10 July 2023 with the opening of the new Regional University Study Hub in Cooktown. Over 30 people attended the event including students, local business owners and organisations as well as members of the neighbouring Hope Vale community. The centre was officially opened by Assistant Minister for Education the Hon. Anthony Chisholm, Federal Member for Leichhardt the Hon. Warren Entsch, Mayor Peter Scott and Founding Chair Marilyn Morris as well as several students and staff.

Since its official opening CUC Cape York has exceeded all expectations with over 50 students currently registered, already surpassing first-year and second-year registration expectations within a few months of operation. Staff are currently working with neighbouring Indigenous communities, Wujal Wujal and Hope Vale to provide outreach solutions for their communities which will further broaden the impact of this important service in remote Far North Queensland.
